MEMS Fuse

  • Micro-Electro-Mechanical-Systems (MEMS) Fuse design for Safe-Arm (MEMSA) and Arm-Fire (MEMAF) applications. SoHaR provided extensive mechanical/manufacturing design, electronic circuit layout, and computer-based testing for these silicon-based devices. The result was a Smart Fuse many orders of magnitude smaller than conventional Safe-Arm-Fire systems, which enabled lighter and more maneuverable kill vehicles.

  • Collaborated with the MDA, as well as a major fabrication plant and a prime missile contractor. SoHaR generated the safety and reliability related portions for dual electrical-and-mechanical interlocks, including technical direction during implementation of the control system for the MEMAF device and for integration to the THAAD Flight Termination System (FTS). Other candidate products for MEMAF include the PAC3 and MKS missiles.
