- Strategic Analyses of Reliability and Maintainability:
SoHaR has performed enterprise-level reliability and availability
analyses of FAA systems for national pacing airports, terminal
air traffic control facilities, and en-route facilities
for enterprise-level cost benefit analyses. The purpose
of these analyses is to provide an analytical basis for
resource allocation for capital investment and staffing
decisions.
- NIMS Resource Planning Model: SoHaR is developing a model
to predict the impacts of staffing, training, sparing, and
other parameters on service level availability. The model,
based on discrete event simulation, is being developed in
Java with the capability of retrieving and analyzing data
from existing FAA databases. This capability will allow
for tactical decisions based on timely and consistent data.
- Oceanic Air Traffic Control Architecture and Reliability
Support: SoHaR supports the Federal Aviation Administration
in the overall system definition, requirements formulation,
project oversight, design reviews, test plans, and implementation
issues for the Oceanic Automation System and Advanced Oceanic
Automation System upgrades.
- Reliability Evaluation of the National Airspace System:
SoHaR evaluated reliability and maintenance data from the
National Airspace System (NAS) in order to determine overall
trends and identify critical areas. We have performed detailed
analysis on National Airspace Performance data for ARTS
III, ARTS II, Host, CDC, and DCC Systems. We have formulated
reliability and fault tolerance related requirements for
upgrades to the FAA Oceanic automation system. We have also
provide system engineering support including top level architecture
definitions and cost estimations to support FAA Capital
Improvement Plan proposals.
- Reliability and Fault Tolerant Support for the Voice Switching
Control System (VSCS): SoHaR assists the FAA in establishing
reliability and availability requirements for the VSCS and
assessing their implementation.
- Software Reliability/Maintainability Requirements Development:
SoHaR conducted a formulation in the Air Traffic Control
System Computer Replacement Program. It then identified
and tailored software standards, and developed a software
quality specification.
