8D Process

The 8D problem solving process was incorporated by Ford Motor Company in 1999. The process includes 8 steps towards problem resolution. ALD FRACAS system support 8D process in its approach to failure analysis and corrective/preventive action management:
D1: Prepare the 8D process
D2: Describe the problem
D3: Contain the symptoms/implement containment actions
D4: Define/verify the root cause
D5: Choose and verify a corrective action
D6: Implement the permanent corrective action
D7: Prevent reoccurrence
D8: Congratulate the team
